Hey guys! Last week we shared Megan and Tyler's Real Wedding, and today you get to meet the planner behind it! This week's Friday Intro goes out to the one and only Cassie Scarborough, one of our fabulous planners here at Whitewood. When she's not planning weddings, Cassie likes to spend time with her sweet fur-baby, Willow (scroll down to see this cutie-- seriously we can't get enough!). I had the pleasure of sitting down with her this week to interview her, and I wanted to share with you guys so that you could get to know all about one of our favorite planners! Check it out...
1) If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you'd do?
I'm of course going to give the boring and practical answer...I would first pay off my student loan and any bills, but then I would go on my dream vacation to Greece. I've always wanted to see and explore the beauty of Santorini and Mykonos.
2) What was your dream job growing up?
I actually bounced all over the place on what I wanted to be when I grew up...lawyer, publicist, wedding planner etc. I of course always would come back to the fun jobs that involved design of some kind. I just wanted a job that I loved to go to everyday and wasn't stuck behind a desk or computer all day long.
3) If you could master one skill you don't already have, what would it be?
I would love to master painting. I think art and being creative is a great way to escape or channel emotion into something that can be simple yet beautiful. Paintings, like photos, capture a moment in time that tells a story to last a lifetime.
4) Your all-time favorite movie: go.
Hands down...The Devil Wears Prada. It incorporates everything I love...fashion, planning, design and let's be honest who can't identify with Anne Hathaway's character at one time or another. Whether it was a boss, the moody/mean coworker that you came to love, dealing with self-doubt in an industry but sticking through something to better your career in the long run? I could probably go on for days. But having an all-star cast with some of my favorites (Meryl, Emily, Stanley and Anne) didn't hurt either!
5) We all know that Athens is known for its awesome food scene - what is your favorite Athens restaurant and/or dish?
I don't know that I could pick just one. I've lived here my whole life, so I've seen a lot of good places come and go. But for the last few years some of my favorites have been Taqueria Tsunami (the avocado egg rolls are to DIE for), Taqueria del Sol (the chicken tacos of course) and Utage with their Utage Special Roll. I was never a huge sushi fan but I fell in love when I went there for the first time and tried several things.
6) What is your favorite part about being a wedding planner?
My favorite part of being a wedding planner is ultimately getting to know my couples. Yes, I love getting to design and plan everything with them...but at the end of it all, seeing the looks on their faces when it comes together, and chatting with them for those last few minutes before their grand exit, you can see their exhaustion but also their happiness, that's my favorite part of the day. No matter what craziness happens behind the scenes with a late vendor or missing bouquet, my goal is to create the dream day that my bride and groom told me they wanted and envisioned the first time I sat down with them. To see it all come true for them on the day they begin their lives together is an amazing feeling that can't be topped.
